WOMEN RETREATS

WOMEN RETREATS

At retreat, women learn about service to others, women eat, women sing and worship and women pursue new interests. But what women do best at retreat is have fun connecting with their sisters in Christ from across the region.

Kansas Disciples Women sponsor two retreats each year – the two events run back-to-back with the same theme, speaker and interest groups. In 2009, the retreats made a major change, moving from the McPherson College campus to Disciples Center at Tawakoni near Augusta. The date also changed from August to October.

Dr. Sharyn Dowd, Pastor for Spiritual Formation and Mission Engagement at First Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia, already has a fan club in Kansas. Ask any woman who attended Quadrennial Assembly 2010, and they will tell you what an engaging and Knowledgeable speaker she is. Next fall, the women who missed her at Quadrennial have their opportunity to learn for themselves.

Dr. Dowd will lead sessions at the fall retreat using various scriptures to "tell the story" of Micah 6:8 by lifting up women from the Bible who illustrate doing justice, loving kindness, walking humbly with God, and perhaps most difficult of all, putting it all together. Register Here

Women who attend retreat will also hear the same kinds of stories from their peers at retreat and will have the opportunity to share their own stories. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to hear the stories of other women and to share your own. The retreat steering committee is certain that at the end of retreat, you will join the
Dr. Dowd fan club too.

A team of volunteer leaders plan the retreat, working two years ahead. The team includes the retreat coordinator, registration coordinator, program coordinators, a worship coordinator, arrangement coordinators, a recorder/publicity coordinator, ex officio members, the KDW President, Cabinet Liaison and KDW Staff.
