Resources Ministry

"The Resources Ministry shall coordinate funding efforts to support the mission of the Christian Church in Kansas. Task areas shall include Disciples Mission Fund (DMF), Reconciliation, the Christmas Offering, the Annual Fund, Regional Capital Campaigns and Stewardship Education. A Resources Ministry Coordinator shall be appointed for a two year term with a limit of three terms. The Resources Ministry Coordinator shall serve on the Regional Board. In consultation with the Resources Ministry Coordinator, Task Chairs for each of the task areas shall be appointed for two year terms with a limit of three terms. The Resources Ministry Coordinator and the Task Chairs shall comprise the Resources Ministry Committee" (Bylaws, Article IX).

The Mission of the Resources Ministry is:

To:

  • Coordinate funding efforts to support the mission of the Christian Church in Kansas

By:

  • Meeting as a committee of the whole to brainstorm, research, track, plan, coordinate and schedule funding efforts
  • Proposing Resources Ministry budget

The responsibilities of the various Task Chairs are:

Disciples Mission Fund (DMF) Task Area –

  • Setting goals and developing strategies for increasing DMF
  • Setting goals and developing strategies for Involving more congregations in DMF
  • Promoting Special Day Offerings --
    (Week of Compassion, Easter, Pentecost, Thanksgiving)
  • Developing DMF Workshops for the Regional Event as needed
  • Communicating about DMF through the Kansas Messenger and

Reconciliation Task Area –

  • Setting goals and developing strategies for increasing Reconciliation projects
  • Setting goals and developing strategies for increasing Reconciliation giving
  • Promoting Reconciliation Offering
  • Making Reconciliation grants to programs which strike at the causes of poverty, alienation and racial discrimination
  • Developing Reconciliation Workshops for the Regional Event as needed
  • Communicating about Reconciliation through the Kansas Messenger and

Kansas Bible Chair–

  • was established by the Kansas Women's Board of Missions in 1901, for Christian Education university level
  • Makes grants for projects supporting Christian Education within the ministry of the Christian Church in Kansas, in keeping with the intent of those who contributed to establish the Chair
  • now consists of funds from the sale of the building Irma Smith Hall to KU in 1999, and will receive 20 annual installments of funds from that sale
  • is administered by the Executive Committee of CCK as trustees, and by the KBC Task Force who make grant decisions twice a year
