New church establishment has exciting challenge
By Renee Bridwell

In North America the Great Commission to go into all the world and make disciples is being dynamically fulfilled through the establishing of over 500 new congregations in less than ten years. If you would like to see what is going on beyond Kansas, New Church Ministry is under the General Unit of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) called Church Extension. See and read about these very exciting ministries in the life of the church at - www.newchurchministry.org.

Kansas Disciples are hard at work as partners in this exciting mission. The regional New Church Establishment Committee, co-chaired by Patrick Nixon and Rhonda Glenn, is looking at several locations across Kansas where new congregations could be started today.

Since summer of 2007 two new church starts are under way. Iglesia Discipulos de Cristo in Garden City is pastored by Guillermo Reyes (620) 521-7923. Breakthrough Community Church in Wichita (an African Immigrant Congregation) is pastored by Anthony Macari (316) 300-8987 [cell phone] or (316) 858-3264 [church office]. Both congregations were given congregation in formation status by the Regional Board of the Christian Church in Kansas at its October 20, 2007 meeting.

IGLESIA DISCIPULOS DE CRISTO worships at 10 :00 AM in the chapel of First Christian Church at 306 N. 7th in Garden City. BREAKTHROUGH COMMUNITY CHURCH worships at 11:00 AM in the community building at Aley Park, 1803 S. Seneca, Wichita.

The Kansas Region is pleased to also have Good Harvest Christian Church as a church in formation, pastored by Lynn Scott (316) 204-6576. The church is currently worshipping at 10:45 AM at the Maude Carpenter Children's Home, 1501 N. Meridian in Wichita.
