Doug GrayDoug Gray

Born in Wichita, Doug was raised attending the Christian Church in several communities in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. His first memory of participating in church is that of being in a children’s Christmas program. Other church memories include being baptized and married to Sue Hamilton by Dr. Tom Parish. Education includes graduation from Wichita East High School; Wichita State University with a BFA in Advertising Design; U.S. Army Still Photography School; and Officers Candidate School with the Kansas Army National Guard (KANG.) Military service was completed in KANG as a 1st Lt. Career positions after college were the Wichita Metropolitan Area Planning Department as a City Planner in the Long Range Division as Graphic Section Chief; and with Wilson & Company, Engineers & Architects as a graphic artist in City Planning and later as Marketing Support Manager. These positions involved producing graphics for printing, presentation, and models.

Doug and Sue are retired and belong to Belmont Boulevard Christian Church in Salina. Past church roles by Doug include deacon, elder, moderator, trustee, various committees and task force chairperson. Doug designed the exterior St. Andrews Cross yard sign for Belmont. He previously served as 1st Vice Moderator of the Kansas Region; and he and Sue are past presenters at the Elders’ Workshops.

The Gray family includes three married children – 1 son, 2 daughters; 1 grandson; and 4 granddaughters.

Favorite things – Spending time with family and friends; traveling to new places; and the “creative process” involved that leads to positive ideas and solutions.

Life Verse – “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. . . . he restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Psalms 23: 1-3.
